Anesthesia and Monitoring
Making sure our patients remain safe while undergoing surgery or other medical procedures is very important to us. Our team of Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians are knowledgeable and skilled at administering anesthesia and monitoring your pet to ensure their safety as well as comfortable throughout the procedure. See our pain management section for how we manage pain before, during and after any procedure.
There are 2 types of anesthesia we use in the practice Local Anesthesia for shorter noninvasive procedures like a skin biopsy or small lump removals.
Local anesthesia causes loss of sensation/pain in the area. We many also use Local anesthesia blocks in addition to general anesthesia to provide additional pain relief for procedures like dentals.
General anesthesia is for larger procedures like spays, abdominal surgeries where the patient will be unconscious and not feel any pain. Like humans General Anesthesia is administer through an anesthetic machine with gas and oxygen to keep them unconscious until the procedure is complete. Throughout any anesthesia patients are closely monitored to ensure they are safe and comfortable. For more information on Anesthesia please click the icons below to learn more.
We are always available to discuss anesthesia in more detail and answer any questions you might have 519-569-7902 or feel free to reach out to one of our Veterinary Technicians via email.
