Dermatology
Skin problems are one of the most common issues we see in dogs and cats. They can be very difficult to treat as they can be caused by hormonal disorders, allergies, infections or parasites like fleas and mites. These issues can be difficult to treat and should be addressed promptly.
The good news is we can often diagnose a skin problem by simply doing a physical exam. Depending on the condition some dematologic diseases require additional diagnostic procedures to ensure we get the correct diagnosis and treatment plan. This could include bloodwork, urinalysis, skin scrapping or biopsies.
Typical skin symptoms:
- excessive scratching
- excessive licking/grooming
- bare patches
- scabs, scaling or redness
- inflammation, lumps or bumps
