Senior Pet Wellness

As dogs and cats get older, they need more attention and special care. Our senior wellness programs can help your pet be comfortable and happy as they age. These programs are designed to help us catch any potential problems earlier, when they are easier to treat and manage. Routine vet visits will give your pet the best outcome and actually live longer too.
Diagnosing diseases and certain conditions early is important throughout your pet's life, but even more critical in their senior years. Dogs and cats age quicker than humans by the age of 8-10 they are in their senior years. In these years the risk of arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, liver or kidney disease is at a higher risk. Your pet may not show any symptoms or signs of serious disease or pain until they are really advanced.
Before your pet reaches senior status, we recommend that you bring your pet in for baseline exam and diagnostics. This gives us a record of what is normal in your pet so we can closely monitor any changes as they age. For dogs we like to see them by age 7 and for cats age 8, to get those baseline results. Once they reach these ages, we may recommend more frequent visits or diagnostics depending on your pet's health.
We can treat many symptoms that are commonly attributed to age, including those associated with cognitive dysfunction syndrome (like Alzheimer's in humans). We can also improve your pet's quality of life in many ways; by identifying and reducing pain, recommending nutrition and exercise plans, suggesting environmental modifications to keep them happy and healthy.
