What to Expect

Picture
As a new client of our Animal Hospital in the Kitchener/Waterloo area, you can expect our full attention on you and your pets needs.  When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly and with a smile.  We will take you into one of our examination rooms, each room dedicated to either dogs or cats, to ensure a stress free environment for your pet.  One of our nurses (Veterinary Technicians) will start by asking you about your pets medical history, current condition and the reason for your visit.  Gathering important information to give to our veterinarians so they can focus directly on your pet needs.

One of our Veterinarians will than come in to meet you and your pet, go over the data that was collected by our Veterinary Technicians, see if you have any further questions or concerns.
Our vets will than move into what we call the Physical Exam, this is very important first step to understanding your pets health,  we will talk through the physical exam so you have a full understanding of what we are looking at and how your pet is doing.

If it is a routine visit we hope to find that your pet is healthy and the vet may make recommendations to maintain the health of your pet like nutrition, dental and preventive medicine.  If you have booked an appointment with us for a medical condition this is where we need to look into possible diagnostics as our pets cannot tell us what is wrong. Diagnostics like x-rays and bloodwork will help the vet understand how they can help your pet feel better.  The vet will discuss a treatment plan and what they think may be going on with your pet.  In complicated sick cases vets have a rule out list, they will have an idea after the physical exam as 2-3 conditions they think your pet will have and diagnostics will help identify what condition your pet has so they can target the correct treatment plan for your pet.

Anytime during or after the visit you are always open to ask questions we are here to help you understand what your pet needs and how you can best care for your pet.  We want to make sure you are completely comfortable with the information that is being provided during your visit.  Our Veterinary Technician will also come in after the vet visit to wrap up the appointment, answer any additional questions or concerns you might have and provide you with helpful pet care and wellness information for your pet.

The next step is to move to our Client Care Team at the front desk, they will take care of any next steps that have been recommended like scheduling another appointment or surgery, they will also assist you with payment at this time.

We are excited to meet you and your pet, hope to see you soon!
